Technology has changed how
treatments are developed and how healthcare decisions
are made by medical providers. As a healthcare leader, you're looking to
increase performance and information sharing while you control costs.
While the expected payoffs are significant, so are the challenges.
The ROI of the web database MTC built for us
was 200% within the first month. We saved over $10,000
on a single medical case!
MTC has worked with some of the most pretigious hospitals, research organizations
and drug companies to develop innovative data-driven web applications.
A few of our recent projects include...
Provider Reportcard
MTC created a portal that allows physicians from a well-respected Boston
community hospital to see how they compare to peers in more than 20 Healthcare
Finance Administration (HCFA) categories all through a secure login.
The
system pulls data monthly from several systems, cleans and calculates the data
based on industry performance measurements, and displays it in various standard
reports. In the end, physicians see how they compare to peers, and can
drill-down to the procedures that may have skewed results. Department heads
view the same data and see apples-to-apples physician comparisons. All data is
secure and meets (or exceeds) stringent HIPAA guidelines.
By alerting the
finance team of high-cost behaviors, the app paid for itself within the first
month of implementation.
Heart Failure Registry
MTC created a web-based heart failure referral management registry at this
academic hospital. The application immediately identifies inpatients regardless
of admit reason (through a live connection with Meditech and Soarian systems). It
then gathers related risk factors (diagnosis, medications, consult/H&P notes, labs) and,
through a complex algorithm, determines a "risk score" for the patient. The "CHF Team" uses the
system to approach high-risk patients, track their status, and follow-up.
Because of its success
(over 90% of people with CHF entering the hospital are identified), it's been installed at other
locations within the network and has been written-up in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Physician Payment Database
MTC created a web-based system for this large Massachusetts-based medical device
company to manage marketing-related physician payment information.
The system
manages all contracts with physicians and healthcare providers that provide
education services (such as speaking at dinner meetings, proctorships,
preceptorships). New contracts can be requested by sales, physicians submit
invoices via a secure website, managers approve or reject submissions, accounts
payable processes payments, and required reporting is viewable online by the
public and regulatory authorities.
With recent state and federal legislation requiring drug and medical device
companies to declare payments to physicians, the company is ahead of the game
and can immediately meet all reporting requirements.
Employee Suggestion Portal
MTC developed a solution for a large Boston network hospital to market and manage
their employee suggestion program. Our comprehensive solution allows employees to
submit ideas, track their ideas, and gives the program administrator the ability
to forward ideas to sponsors to approve/deny. In fact, the system manages the
entire workflow from idea submission through approval/denial, to various status
levels, to communication to the employee, to reward distribution.
Since its
implementation, over 100 ideas have been accepted and implemented.
