As some of you may know, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has implemented a new computer and software-related services tax, which has gone in effect August 1, 2013.

We are currently assessing the situation and trying to work out the specifics of this law, to see how each of you may be affected. As of now, we expect this will affect some of you, as you’ll see sales tax added to your regular invoice fees. We believe there will be no taxes levied on custom-made development, and are still looking into how it affects customization to open-source and other software.
